Αλογομαχίες στην Κίνα!

Οι βάρβαρες και απάνθρωπες αλογομαχίες, που χρονολογούνται από το 1.500 μ.Χ., είναι εξαιρετικά δημοφιλείς στην Κίνα και πολλές άλλες ασιατικές χώρες.
Οι διοργανωτές οδηγούν δυο επιβήτορες σε μια φοράδα, την οποία και απομακρύνουν όταν τα άλογα διεγερθούν, γεγονός που τα κάνει να στραφούν το ένα ενάντια στο άλλο. Αν ωστόσο τα άλογα δεν μονομαχήσουν, τότε οι διοργανωτές εφαρμόζουν και άλλες μεθόδους (μαστίγωμα – πυροβολισμοί) για να τα εξαγριώσουν και να τα φοβίσουν. «Είναι βάναυσο και απάνθρωπο και δεν ξέρω γιατί το κάνουν. Είναι πολύ δύσκολο να το καταπολεμήσουμε», τόνισε σε δηλώσεις της η Vivian Farrell, πρόεδρος του Παγκόσμιου Ταμείου για τα Άλογα, που μάχεται εδώ και χρόνια για να απαγορευτούν οι αλογομαχίες. «Αυτοί που το κάνουν λένε πως είναι παράδοση. Λοιπόν κάποτε ήταν παράδοση να θυσιάζουμε παιδιά όμως έχουμε προχωρήσει αρκετά μπροστά από αυτό το στάδιο», προσέθεσε. «Το να βασανίζει κανείς αυτά τα υπέροχα ζώα στο όνομα της διασκέδασης είναι τουλάχιστον αξιοθρήνητο. Η παράδοση δεν δικαιολογεί τη βιαιότητα, η οποία δεν έχει θέση σε μια πολιτισμένη κοινωνία», τόνισε από την πλευρά του εκπρόσωπος της φιλοζωικής οργάνωσης PETA. Σημειώνεται ότι οι αλογομαχίες απαγορεύονται στα περισσότερα κράτη παγκοσμίως, όμως εξακολουθούν να διοργανώνονται σε χώρες όπως οι Φιλιππίνες, η Ινδονησία, η Νότιος Κορέα και η Κίνα, προσελκύοντας πλήθος κόσμου.

If the stallions still refuse to fight then organisers use other methods to anger and frighten them such as whipping the creatures or firing guns in the air.
Vivian Farrell, President of the International Fund For Horses, which has led campaigns to ban horse fighting, said: 'It's cruel and inhumane and I don't know why they do it.
'It is very hard to tackle. They say it's a tradition. Well, it used to be a tradition to sacrifice children, but we've moved on from that.

A spokesperson for PETA added: 'Torturing these magnificent animals in the name of entertainment is deplorable. Tradition never justifies cruelty and has no place in a civilised society.'
Horse fighting has been outlawed almost worldwide, but it still thrives in countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, South Korea and China.
